Srinagar, Feb 05 (KNO): The latest figures shared by the Jammu and Kashmir Government show progress across housing, employment, skill development, women empowerment and sanitation in rural areas. As per the freshly released government data, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jammu and Kashmir has showcased progress across housing, employment, skill development, women empowerment and sanitation in rural areas. The data shows that under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin), the government targeted 3.36 lakh eligible rural households, out of which 3.21 lakh houses have been constructed by December 2025. A total of Rs 511.84 crore has been disbursed as housing assistance. It shows that employment generation under MGNREGA remains robust, with 401.04 lakh person-days provided in 2024-25, while the current financial year (up to November 2025) has already generated 235.61 lakh person-days. “Skill training and job placement for rural youth under Himayat-Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana benefited 4,316 youth between 2023-24 and November 2025, with 3,066 placed in jobs.” The data also reveals that women empowerment initiatives under NRLM saw 21,061 Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted, with thousands receiving revolving and community funds and several linked to banks to boost financial inclusion. It further shows that sanitation and civic infrastructure have also advanced, with 1,730 Community Sanitary Complexes and 1,02,379 individual household latrines completed under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) at a cost of Rs 102.38 crore. “441 Panchayat Ghars were completed under RGSA with expenditure of Rs 111.54 crore, and 500 more units have been approved for the current fiscal,” the data reveals. About the Lakhpati Didi initiative, the data states that aimed at promoting livelihood opportunities for rural women, the scheme exceeded targets, identifying 2,60,010 potential Lakhpati Didis and converting 2,00,952 into active participants—(KNO)
